Walk the grounds of one of Victoria's most grand properties...
With its lush manicured gardens, sandstone archways and fruit orchard, Werribee Mansion and its surrounding gardens is listed on Victoria's Heritage Register for its cultural significance. The Mansion was originally built in 1877 by a Scottish family, before being converted to a Catholic seminary, and later purchased by the Victoria State Government in 1973.
We enjoyed an afternoon stroll around the area after visiting the Victoria State Rose Garden next door. With the beautiful weekend weather, the lawns were filled with families. There was even a lovely couple taking their wedding photos here.
Visiting the gardens is free, however, entrance into the Mansion for tours is at extra cost. There is also the option to visit the restaurant (they serve a fancy high tea) or stay the night here at the adjoining Mansion Hotel and Spa, if you do fancy!
