Enjoy a spot of tea and take in the serene surroundings and cool air in the Dandenong Ranges (about 50km from the Melbourne CBD).
Olinda Tea House and Restaurant offers both high tea experiences and a modern Asian fusion menu. I tried the high tea menu which featured Matcha, Lychee and Oolong tastes in the desserts. My sister is pescatarian and they did cater for this dietary requirement in the savoury options. Check out the website for the menu, as it may be subject to change seasonally.
After eating, we wandered the gardens and visited the little pony and alpacas. There are small gazebos to sit under which would be lovely in the warmer seasons.
Just note that if you are interested in the high tea, these sessions must be booked in advance. We paid $73 per person for the weekend session, or visit on a weekday for $66 per person. It was a lovely weekend experience and all dishes (savoury and sweet) were absolutely delicious. We were left feeling full afterwards and did not finish all the freshly bakes scones.
