Roses are red ... orange, pink, yellow! The Victoria State Rose Garden is something out of Bridgerton.

Located in Werribee Park (about 30 mins drive West from Melbouren CBD), these rose gardens span 6 acres with over 5,000 roses of various types and colours. It is an incredibly vibrant showcase of floral display when in full bloom during October to April each year. Come here to wander the grounds and pack a picnic while you're at it. There are walking paths and benches available.

We visited on a late Saturday afternoon for a picnic. All the roses were in bloom with some petals already falling off. There were a few groups of people there, but it was not particularly busy.

You can really make a day of it and visit the neighbouring sights including Werribee Zoo and Werribee Mansion nearby if you like. As it is a seasonal event for the roses to flower, I'd recommend you check the website as timings for blooms may vary based on environmental factors.
