Makers of classic Italian liqueurs, Pietro Gallus Estate looks the part with citrus trees and olive groves surrounding the property. Found 45 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD, escape to Warrandyte to make the most of the warm weather with outdoor alfresco dining.

We visited to try their Limoncello - a lemon flavoured Italian liqueur - made using a 50 year old family recipe. If you enjoy sweet drinks like me, you may like this. Imagine the bright flavours of lemon sorbet, sherbet and lemonade! Lisbon and Eureka lemons are grown here onsite and supplied locally to produce their Limoncello. Tastings of their liqueur varieties are available, including their Grappa made from King Valley grapes grown at the property.

We enjoyed a beautiful long lunch, featuring pizzas from the Estate's restaurant, Olivigna.

Although we came for the Limoncello, we couldn't help but leave with a bottle of their Chocolate liqueur!
