Drive just over an hour from Melbourne to Warburton, and you will find the California Redwood Forest. Covering a small area in the Yarra Ranges National Park are these beautiful trees.

These trees were planted in 1930 and are almost nearing a century old! We visited on a weekend afternoon when the sun was high and the light peeped through the perfectly aligned trees to make patterns on the ground.

Although the pictures appear quiet, there were many people enjoying the park. Expect to see children playing in the trees, cute picnics and even a food truck in the parking lot selling hot chips and jam doughnuts.

You can easily spend a few hours here if you continue past the redwood plantation and into the natural bush setting where you'll find defined trail walks passing a creek and peaceful scenery.
